Planting a Seedling

photo[1]Children in urban environments spend far too little time in nature yet living in harmony with the earth is a fundamental aspect of a peaceful education. In order to connect our students to the natural world, the Parent Social Committee organized a nature walk and native species planting in the forest at Todmorden Mills. The children had a blast planting ferns, rue, and violets on an almost perfect Saturday in May and raised just over $300 which the school matched in donations for the nature stewardship program at the Mills. Everyone who attended agreed we should try to add more of these events into the calendar next year.
