This week we took a serious look at the life of in Upper Canada in the 1800’s. On Monday, we went to Enoch Turner Schoolhouse to spend the morning in Miss Henderson’s class. After lunch we found out what a great workout square dancing is…watch for it at your local gym soon! We made water carrying bags, a scale, and learned how to tell time making devices to follow the sun. We also “churned” our own butter which is much harder work than you might imagine and gave the kids an inkling of how much work went into everything the pioneers used. Hopefully, it tasted all the sweeter when they spread it on their homemade bread. Follow us next week as we turn a sheep’s fleece into a community quilt!
